Our Policies
Daily walks require 24 hours’ notice for cancellation.
- We understand that unexpected illness can happen. If you need to cancel on the morning of your walk due to illness, there will be no charge provided you notify us before 9:00am.
Standard Visits (Pet Feeding / Check-ins)
- Cancellations made more than 3 days before the scheduled service will not be charged (excluding holiday periods).
- Cancellations made 2–3 days before the service will incur a 15% cancellation fee of the total booking.
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of the service will be charged 100% of the first 24 hours of visits, and 20% of any remaining booked visits.
Holiday Bookings
- Holiday periods are extremely busy and we often have to decline other bookings.
- Cancellations made within 7 days of the first scheduled holiday visit will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
- Cancellations made within 3 days of the first scheduled holiday visit will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
Overnight Stays
- Overnight bookings are exclusive, meaning those dates are reserved only for you.
- If an overnight booking is cancelled within 14 days of the start date, a 20% cancellation fee of the total booking will apply.
- We always try to be fair and understanding in genuine emergencies.
- A deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due closer to the start date. Bookings are confirmed once a meet & greet has taken place and a deposit has been received so you can feel comfortable and confident before making payment.
- Dates and times are reserved specifically for your pet and home, and I may need to decline other enquiries for the same period. Early booking is therefore recommended, especially during busy times.
- Full details, including service dates and payment terms, will be confirmed in writing prior to the start of the booking.
- Your pet’s health and wellbeing are always my top priority. In the event of illness or injury, I will make every effort to contact you immediately.
- If you are unavailable, I reserve the right to seek veterinary treatment to ensure your pet receives the care they need. Where possible, your preferred veterinarian will be used..
- All veterinary costs incurred remain the responsibility of the pet owner.
- Prior to the booking, you will be asked to provide your vet details and authorisation for emergency treatment so that I can act quickly and, in your pet’s, best interest.
- Clients are responsible for providing safe and reliable access to their home for the duration of the service. This may include keys, remote controls, access codes or lockbox arrangements.
- All access details must be provided and tested in advance to ensure smooth entry.
- If access cannot be gained due to incorrect information, faulty keys, or technical issues, the scheduled visit will still be charged.
- Clients are required to inform Happy & Fed of any behavioural issues, medical conditions, or special handling requirements prior to the booking.
- For the safety of both pets and sitter, I reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services if a pet displays aggressive or unsafe behaviour.
- Happy & Fed cannot be held responsible for incidents resulting from undisclosed behavioural issues. Clients accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss caused by their pet, particularly where behavioural issues have not been disclosed.
Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Happy & Fed House and Pet Sitting respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.
- Happy & Fed House and Pet Sitting takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

Terms and Conditions

Services
- Happy and Fed provides house and pet sitting services where pets are cared for in their own home while the owner is away.
- Services are provided according to the arrangements agreed upon with the pet owner prior to the booking.
Bookings
- Bookings should be made in advance where possible.
- Availability is subject to confirmation.
- A booking is considered confirmed once both parties agree to the dates and service details.
Owner Responsibilities
- Accurate information about their pets, including behaviour and medical conditions
- Sufficient food, medication, and supplies for the duration of the sit
- Emergency contact details
- Contact details of their veterinarian
- Owners must inform Happy and Fed of any aggressive behaviour or health conditions that may affect the safety of the sitter or the well-being of the pet.
Veterinary Care
- In the event of an emergency, Happy and Fed may seek veterinary care for the pet if the owner cannot be reached.
- All veterinary costs remain the responsibility of the pet owner.

Pet Behaviour

Risk Acknowledgement
- Pet sitting involves interaction with animals, and while all reasonable care is taken, animals may behave unpredictably.
- Happy and Fed cannot accept liability for injuries or incidents resulting from normal animal behaviour that was not previously disclosed.
Home Security
- Happy and Fed will take reasonable care of the owner's home and property while providing house sitting services.
- However, Happy and Fed cannot be held responsible for events beyond reasonable control, including:
- burglary or attempted burglary
- damage caused by weather or natural events
- utility failures
Pet Health
- All reasonable care will be taken to maintain the health and well-being of the pets.
- However, Happy & Fed cannot be held responsible for illness, injury, or death resulting from pre-existing health conditions or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Third Parties
- Happy & Fed cannot accept responsibility for actions of third parties, including neighbours, visitors, contractors, or delivery services entering the property during the sit.
